GPT Store: Tips for getting your GPT discovered

I've published 3 custom GPTs in the GPT Store. One has 50K+ conversations. Sharing what I've learned about visibility.

What worked

1. Clear, keyword-rich name: "SQL Query Builder Pro" beats "DataHelper" 2. Detailed description: Include use cases, not just features 3. Conversation starters: Make them showcase your GPT's best capabilities 4. Regular updates: GPTs that are updated frequently seem to rank higher

What didn't work

  • Sharing on social media (minimal impact on GPT Store ranking)
  • Long system prompts (makes the GPT slower, not smarter)
  • Too many actions (users get confused)
  • The Store's discovery algorithm seems to heavily weight usage metrics and user retention.

For long TTS, I chunk the text by paragraph and generate audio separately, then concatenate with a 0.5s silence between chunks. Gives natural pauses and avoids the character limit.
